China

The obligatory education in China, which has lasted for nine years combined, has been elementary and secondary school since 1986. Some 82,5% of pupils completed their studies in a 3-year high school in 2010. The Gaokao is a prerequisite for entering many higher education institutions, China’s national university entrance test. 27% of high school graduates enroll in higher education in 2010. China has the second largest number of leading universities worldwide by 2020. According to the academic ranking of the university globe, China now only has the top 200 schools in the United States (ARWU). China has the top universities in Asia and Oceania and the developing economies, according to Times Higher Education World University Rankings. Both members are members of the C9 League, a prestigious and comprehensive Chinese universities collaboration.
